Samsung Q65Q9FN Review

Image
The QLED series from Samsung builds on the Premium UHD series by adding a wider color gamut via Quantum Dot film and Quantum Dot color. It has excellent black levels and contrast and will capture the intended increased brightness and color of HDR content. This years model focuses more on an anti-reflective screen combined with better contrast through the new Q Contrast Plus technology. Has 240 motion rate. Differences between the Q7 and Q9 series: Ultra Black Elite Panel:  Samsung is marketing this panel feature which is included only in the Q8 and Q9 QLEDs for those of us that do not adjust room light conditions when watching TV. This technology built in the Ultra Black panel increases brightness while decreasing glare by using micro dots on the surface of the panel to help redirect light from surroundings that would otherwise cause glare on the screen. The other differences are less pronounced minute with the Q9 having one less USB port (2), a slightly different stand, 6...

Sony XBR-X930E Bravia Review

New features in this years Sony flagship LED-LCD TV model has a slim backlight drive, which is a full array backlight feature that's new and improved. As we have noted in the past, the best LED-LCD TVs have excellent full array backlighting as a separating feature. This is truly a performance feature we believe is worth the extra cost – one of the few. For a complete explanation on the benefits of this new technology check out  Sony's page here . This new model has superb up-scaling and conversion of standard definition, HD, DVD, and BluRay incoming content. Sony's new advanced (video) noise reduction gives their newer models an excellent smooth quality. Sony's up-conversion technology is creating a 4K-like picture with normal everyday resolution signals. This is a great strategy and Sony is able to show off their superior processing. The X930E has it all in terms of picture features, Extended Dynamic Range Pro, X1 4K Processor, and X-Reality Pro up-scaling algor...

Sony XBR-X850E Series Bravia Review

Picture Quality/Contrast/Black Level Rating: 88/100 "The HDR enhancements are great if you can nab some HDR content to watch on it."" The biggest downgrade from the X900E and X930E in the Sony lineup above are that the X850E has no full array backlighting and instead is edge lit. Full array backlighting is one of the best (and most expensive when done right) feature differences when comparing one LED-LCD TV to another. A good full array backlit picture can produce more contrast in critical areas of the screen and also help with side angle viewing quality due to increased brightness. However the X850E does gain the new 4K HDR Processor X1 introduced this year. I'm glad that Sony has kept the X850E series similar to last years X850D with only a few upgrade touches. We loved this TV last year for its exceptional picture/price combination along with good solid features and value. The same applies this year with the X850E. The new processor does a great job of clea...

Through the gloss screen finish with excellent anti-reflective qualities the A1E produces an awesome OLED TV picture quality that is unrivaled by 4K LED TVs at the moment. Though the OLED panel is manufactured by LG, Sony's processing chip sets and design are all Sony, and therefore make the A1E a bit different from their competitor. Strengths Black Levels, Uniformity and Contrast Sound Quality Excellent Processing of motion content Great Fast motion playback Color Accuracy and Realistic Rendition Side Angle Viewing HDR performance superb HDR Brightness Appearance and Build Quality Dark Shadow Detail Good Selection of Preset Picture Mode Android Smart TV operation is fast, quality, and voice search works well Weaknesses Gaming Input Lag Price Picture Quality Rating: 98/100 Why is OLED technology better than LED/LCD TV in Picture Quality? If I had to answer this question in a word: Contrast. A bit of design speak first: First and foremost OLED TVs ...
